Mrs. Burden was born September 25, 1943 in Heard County to the late John Henry Kilby and Minnie Kelley Kilby.
She was married to the late Hughlett “Sambo” Burden for 55 years. To this union was born two children: Jennifer Lynn Burden Parks and Samuel Lee Burden.
She dedicated her life to praising the Lord and bringing His message of love to everyone she met. Every time you saw Miss Mary Nell she gave all glory to God. She was invited to speak at many local churches and was a dynamic speaker, who always had a message of inspiration.
She attended many local churches, but was a member of Mt. Carrie Baptist Church, and considered it her home church. She also frequently attended Heaven Bound Church of God.
A true woman of God, she accepted the charge of service to her community. She often cooked meals and fed families when she heard of someone who was sick or shut-in. She offered prayers and words of encouragement to anyone who needed them.
She held a special place in her heart for her family, and especially loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
