Dr. Duncan was born June 26, 1936 in Alto, GA (Hall County) to the late John Dewey Duncan and Minnie Lee Crumley Duncan.

He graduated from Lula High School, Class of 1957. He announced his call to preach the Gospel, and married the love of his life, the former Roberta Olivia Leach, in 1958. She remained by his side for the rest of his days.

Quinnion was drafted into the US Army, so he and Roberta moved to Bristol, Rhode Island where he worked as a technician for the local Nike Missile Base. After two years of service, he was offered a promotion, but he decided that he had seen enough snow, so he returned to Georgia and started a job with the Department of Transportation.

He studied for the ministry through Luther Rice Seminary. Their program allowed him to take classes and turn in recorded sermons for critique. While he studied he served Lula Baptist Church as a Sunday School teacher and interim pastor. He was also active in the community as a Little League Baseball and girls basketball coach.

In 1975 he accepted his first full time pastorate at Tyus Baptist Church. He finished his Bachelor’s Degree in 1978. He continued his study with a Master’s Degree, then finished his Doctor of Ministry Degree in 1981.

After having heart surgery he waited for a clean bill of health before searching for another full time position. In 1981 he accepted the pastorate at Centralhatchee First Baptist Church, where he served until 1987. He developed many close relationships with the congregation there.

He moved on to serve as pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in Columbus. In 1990 he retired from the DOT (after 31 years of service) and returned to be the pastor for Tyus Baptist Church. His final full time pastorate was for New Lebanon Baptist Church from 1998 – 2006.

After retiring from full time ministry, Quinnion and Roberta moved their church membership back to Centralhatchee First Baptist Church. When the church needed an interim pastor, he was honored to serve until they called Rev. Mark Williams as full time pastor in 2007. He continued to preach sermons when called upon and was an active member until his health began to fail him.

At home he loved to work in the yard and cut grass. He was a sports fanatic, and if there was a game on the TV, he was tuned in. He was a diehard fan of the Atlanta Braves. His favorite college team was Georgia Tech, but he would support the University of Georgia if they weren’t playing Tech.

Survivors include: his wife, Roberta Duncan of Franklin; children: Mike Duncan (Shari) of Bowdon, Jeff Duncan (Lee Ann) of Gray, GA, Toby Duncan (Tracy) of Franklin, Lynn Mitchell (Jimmy) of Newell, AL, Susan Bradley of Roopville, Robin Rogers of Roopville, and Richard Reeves of Roopville; grandchildren: Brittany Holt (Daniel), Michael Duncan (Caitlin), Tabatha Farley (Joe), Christian Duncan, Isaiah Duncan, Jonah Duncan, Jessica Boyd (Ethan), Hillary Tanner (Tyler), Lindsey Collins (Josh), and Morgan Bradley; ten great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Edith Duncan of Alto, GA, Claudia Leach of Hoschton, GA, and Sandra Ladd (Barry) of Oakwood, GA; and a number of other relatives and friends.
